Design: HZ 500 horizontal machining centre has been designed as a modern and cost effective machine tool. The structure of the machine addresses most of the issues commonly present in modern machine shops such as need for high material removal rate, thanks to fast spindle and rapid linear axes, and easy and efficient removal of chips and filtration of cooling liquids. HZ 500 has been designed entirely in 3D CAD environment. Machine base is made as a weldment. The central channel contains the chip conveyor. The base is supported on 6 fixators. Z axis linear roller guideways from Schneeberger, the Heidenhain distance-coded scale, and a hydraulically pre-stretched precision ground Ø 50 x 20 ball screw are mounted on the base. Z axis ways and ball screw are protected with telescopic waycovers.
X – Y Axis Module: The design of X and Y axes is based on box-in-box principle. This configuration helps to create a vertical chip barrier separating machine’s workzone from the structure responsible for machine’s accuracy and power. Both X and Y axes have linear roller guideways, have direct glass scales for position feedback, and are driven with hydraulically pre-stretched precision ground Ø 50 x 20 ballscrews. Both frame structures are manufactured as weldments. Both X and Y ways and ballscrews are protected with telescopic waycovers.
The Z axis unit is designed as a rigid cast iron slide. The rotary table is mounted on an axial-radial roller bearing. A direct rotary encoder is used for direct angular position feedback. Variable lead ground steel worm is fitted backlash-free with a bronze worm gear. The pallet is located on the table on four cones. These cones are potted in place using a master fixture for accuracy.
Numerical Control: HZ-500 Machining Centre can be equipped as per Customer preference with Siemens Sinumerik 840D, Heidenhain iTNC 530 or other controls.
Headstock: The two speed 10,000 rpm headstock offers the solution for high torque in low range and high speed in high range. At the heart of the spindle transmission are special gears with tooth geometry designed jointly between MOC Mechanicy and a German gear consulting firm. These gears allow for quiet and smooth operation at high spindle speeds and their wide root form helps to limit bending stress from external loads. Hybrid spindle bearings with ceramic balls are grease lubricated, SK40 taper drawbar is supplied by Ott company.
Tool magazine: The centre is equipped with 40 tools, bi-directional tool chain magazine located on the side of the machine. Capacity increase is achieved by height increase of the unit.
Pallet changer: Machine is equipped with a rotary pallet changer. The rotary motion is servo driven. The vertical motion of the pallet changer is servo driven. The vertical motion of the pallet changer is driven with hydraulic cylinder.
Machine has an integrated scraper–type chip conveyor centrally located inside machine bed in Z axisdirection. Optionally a hinged belt conveyor
